Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers is a non-profit program relying on cooperation among the police services, news media and the citizens in our area. Crime Stoppers encourages people to call with information about criminal activity.
History
In 1987, Sudbury Regional Crime Stoppers and Rainbow Country Crime Stoppers were established as a proactive way for the community to assist police in the fight against crime. In 1993 the two programs were amalgamated to form Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers. The Board of Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers consists of up to 25 directors 22 of which can come from the Greater City of Sudbury and three from the balance of the outlying areas served by Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers. In addition to the two police coordinators, liaison representatives from the RCMP and MNR are also involved.
The responsibility of the Board of Directors is to set the policies for the operation of the program and to raise money from the community to pay rewards and cover administrative costs.
The program also won several productivity awards and media awards during this time. In addition, the program has received several awards from the Ontario Crime Control Commission.
Over the years, several members of the program have been presented with awards by the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers.

This body was formed in 1988 to help Ontario Crime Stoppers programs, and it assists new programs through the starting up process, promotes Crime Stoppers to the general public, and arbitrates any disputes or misunderstandings between programs
Canadian Crime Stoppers Association
This Board is a new organization comprised of representatives from Crime Stoppers programs across Canada
Crime Stoppers International, Inc.
Founded in 1982, Crime Stoppers International (CSI) is the "umbrella" organization for Crime Stoppers programs throughout the world.
